New Hampshire security deposit return deadline calculator

In New Hampshire, the landlord has 30 days to return your security deposit or send an itemized list of deductions (RSA 540-A:5, I-II; 540-A:6, I-IV; 540-A:7, I-II; 540-A:8, I-III). Enter your move-out date to get the exact date.

New Hampshire: deposit (or itemized deductions) due within 30 days.

Add your move-out date to see the deadline.

  • Counted from the date the tenancy ends. The landlord must return the deposit with any interest due, plus an itemized list of any damage deductions.
  • Give the landlord your new address in writing: a landlord who couldn't return the deposit because you gave no address is protected. A deposit left unclaimed 6 months after the tenancy ends goes to the landlord.
  • If the landlord doesn't comply, you can recover twice the deposit plus interest, less amounts properly owed.
