Kansas late fee calculator: is your rent late fee legal?
What the law says in Kansas: No statewide rule found: the Kansas Residential Landlord and Tenant Act (K.S.A. 58-2540 to 58-2573) has no provision capping late fees or requiring a grace period, so any late fee comes from the lease (58-2545(a)). Rent is payable at the time and place agreed, by default at the beginning of each month (58-2545(c)), and the landlord may end the lease if rent is unpaid 3 days after written notice (58-2564(b)). A court may refuse to enforce an unconscionable lease term (58-2544(a)). Other Kansas statutes were not searched.
